Facility Wayfinding
Make every building feel intuitive.
Indoor and outdoor wayfinding signage — reception, washrooms, lifts, meeting rooms, parking and visitor flows — designed as a coherent system.
The business problem
Inconsistent signage frustrates visitors and slows emergency response. Modern facilities need a single, scalable wayfinding system.
International & Indian standards that apply
These are the codes an auditor, fire marshal or safety officer will check against.
| Standard | Requirement |
|---|---|
| ISO 7001 | Public information symbols — reception, toilets, lifts, parking, wheelchair access. The wayfinding vocabulary. |
| ISO 7010 | Safety pictograms layered on top of wayfinding — exits, first aid, fire equipment. |
| RPWD Act 2016 / Harmonised Guidelines (India) | Accessible signage — Braille, tactile lettering, wheelchair pictograms, colour contrast ratio ≥ 4.5:1. |
| ADA Signage (US) | Reference for MNC facilities — mounting height, tactile characters, pictogram size. |

Material & mounting guidance
- ACP or acrylic modular sign system so rooms can be renamed without replacing hardware.
- Mounting: 1.5 m to centre for wall-mounted; 2.4 m for hanging / projecting; 1.2–1.6 m for tactile plates (RPWD).
- Colour contrast ratio ≥ 4.5:1 (WCAG 2.1 AA) between text and background.
- Consistent icon set across all buildings — don't mix ISO 7001, in-house and vendor icons.
